Fidelity Investments Chairman denies sale rumors

According to the article today in the Boston Globe, not only does Fidelity Investments Chairman Ned Johnson deny persistent rumors of the privately held instituion being sold, but he reacted by sounding even oblivious to the rumors.

I cannot believe that this man has not heard of the Bank of America rumors and would not take stock in anything he says at this point given his recent track record and low morale of the company's employees.

Fidelity To Continue Layoffs in 2009

Here is a brief article speaking to the continued job losses including information as of December 2008 for Fidelity Investments. One has to wonder whether or not the YTD stock market performance (worst January in the history of the stock market) will alter any plans that Fidelity made previously.
